Chapter 13 - THE FIRST DINNER WITHOUT FEAR

Gabriel invited Norah to dinner.
Not at his penthouse.
Not at an expensive restaurant.
At Benny's.
After closing.
He cooked.
Badly.
Norah entered the kitchen and stared at the disaster.
“What happened?”
Gabriel looked embarrassed.
“I attempted pasta.”
She examined the pot.
“You attempted something.”
He laughed.
She rolled up her sleeves.
“Move.”
Together, they made dinner.
Garlic.
Tomatoes.
Fresh basil.
No security team.
No threats.
No fear.
They sat in the corner booth.
Gabriel looked at her.
“Norah.”
“Yes?”
“Can I ask you something?”
She smiled.
“You just did.”
He laughed.
Then became serious.
“Would you consider going on a real date with me?”
Norah studied him.
“Gabriel, your life is complicated.”
“I know.”
“And mine is finally becoming simple.”
He nodded.
“I understand.”
She considered.
“Then let's start slowly.”
His eyes softened.
“How slowly?”
She smiled.
“Coffee.”
Gabriel laughed.
“Coffee?”
“Yes.”
“Tomorrow?”
May you like
She nodded.
“Tomorrow.”
