Chapter 10 - THE LAST BETRAYAL
Marcus DeLuca was arrested after investigators connected him to the poisoning conspiracy.
Evidence suggested he had been working with several figures who wanted Gabriel removed from power.
The conspiracy had targeted Paulie first.
Then Gabriel.
The goal was to create panic.
Destabilize the organization.
And force a leadership change.
Gabriel watched the arrest from a distance.
Marcus looked at him.
“You've gone soft.”
Gabriel said nothing.
Marcus laughed bitterly.
“You used to understand how this world works.”
Gabriel looked at him.
“I understand it better now.”
Marcus sneered.
“Then why aren't you killing me?”
Gabriel's expression remained calm.
“Because I don't need to become you to defeat you.”
Marcus was taken away.
Leo stood beside Gabriel.
“What's next?”
May you like
Gabriel looked toward the city.
“Something different.”
