Chapter 12 - THE NURSE WHO SAVED MORE THAN ONE LIFE

Norah passed her nursing exams.
She cried when the results arrived.
Benny hugged her.
Her classmates celebrated.
And Gabriel sent flowers.
Not diamonds.
Not a car.
Just flowers.
The card read:
You earned this. I'm proud of you. — Gabriel
Norah smiled.
She accepted a position at a community hospital.
The work was difficult.
Long shifts.
Exhausting patients.
Families facing impossible decisions.
But she loved it.
One afternoon, Gabriel visited the hospital to support a community health fundraiser.
Norah saw him speaking with the hospital director.
He had donated money to expand nutrition services for patients experiencing food insecurity.
When she approached, he smiled.
“Surprise.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Did you do this because of me?”
Gabriel considered.
“You reminded me what hunger feels like.”
Norah looked at him.
“And?”
He smiled faintly.
“And I thought nobody should have to be afraid of their next meal.”
May you like
She nodded.
“That's a good reason.”
