Chapter 6 - The Hidden Wire in the Study

The Coleman family trust was valued at over $450 million.

Under the terms established by Nathan’s late father, if Nathan died without surviving biological heirs, 100% of the maritime logistics conglomerate and the real estate trusts would automatically transfer to his uncle’s lineage—specifically, to thirty-five-year-old Julian Coleman.

In the master study on the third floor, Nathan, Marcus, and I reviewed the decrypted communications.

"Julian lost $80 million on speculative commercial real estate in Dubai two years ago," Marcus explained, pointing to the audit charts on the screen. "His creditors were threatening to liquidate his personal holdings. When Nathan's wife tragically passed away from cancer, Julian saw his window."

Julian had promised Dr. Malcolm Reeves $5 million from the trust estate to systematically poison Jacob and Jonah over an eight-month period, ensuring their deaths would appear as an unfortunate hereditary genetic disorder. Once the boys were gone, Julian planned to arrange a fatal 'accident' for Nathan during an overseas shipping inspection.

"We have the financial records," I said, looking at Nathan. "But to ensure an unassailable federal indictment with zero chance of bail, we need Julian's voice on an active wire."

Nathan looked at the security desk. "Julian is arriving at 9:00 AM for the quarterly board briefing."

Nathan turned to me, his eyes filled with profound respect. "Emily, are you willing to wear an encrypted wire in the drawing room?"

"Give me the microphone," I answered without hesitating.
