Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Purge of Montgomery Holdings

Edward walked across the tarmac with slow, measured, terrifying steps, stopping five feet from the trembling lovers.
“Julian Cole,” Edward spoke softly, his voice cutting through the cold morning wind like a diamond blade. “You were an intern at my firm six years ago. I paid for your Wharton MBA. I gave you a portfolio division.”
Julian fell to his knees on the concrete, weeping in frantic panic: “Mr. Montgomery! Please! It was Victoria! She seduced me! She told me you neglected her! She gave me the trust routing numbers!”
“You parasitic coward!” Victoria shrieked, lunging at Julian, clawing at his face before two federal agents pinned both of them face-down onto the tarmac.
Julian Hayes stepped forward, displaying the unsealed federal indictments.
“Under Title 18 of the United States Code,” Julian Hayes announced with clinical precision, “all $25 million siphoned through Solstice Horizon LLC has been 100% frozen and seized by the United States Department of the Treasury. Both defendants are charged with Federal Wire Fraud, Interstate Money Laundering, Forgery of Fiduciary Instruments, and Felony Child Endangerment.”
CLACK. CLACK.
Heavy steel transport handcuffs snapped shut around Victoria’s and Julian’s wrists.
Victoria looked up at Edward through tears and rain, sobbing hysterically: “Edward! Forgive me! I’m Lily’s mother! She needs me! You can’t put me in prison!”
Edward looked down at the woman who had shoved his five-year-old child and broken a glass at her feet, his eyes filled with pristine, immovable disgust.

“You ceased to be a mother the moment you raised your hand against my child,” Edward said softly. “You chose thirty pieces of silver. Now go spend them in a federal cell.”
As the federal marshals dragged the two screaming convicts toward the police transport vans, the morning sun broke over the horizon, painting the California sky in vibrant shades of gold and crimson.
