Chapter 4 - The Twenty-Five-Million-Dollar Siphon

“It gets worse, Edward,” Julian Hayes continued, pulling up three thick, red-stamped bank discovery binders.
“What else did she do, Julian?”
Julian laid out the master financial embezzlement schematic:
The Falsified Trust Approvals: Over the past twelve months, Victoria had forged Edward’s executive signature on five international credit guarantees, diverting $25,000,000 from the Montgomery Family Heritage Trust into an offshore holding company registered in Belize named Solstice Horizon LLC.
The Accomplice: The co-signatory and sole beneficiary of Solstice Horizon LLC was thirty-four-year-old Julian Cole—Victoria’s personal tennis instructor and former junior portfolio manager.
The Flight Manifest: Two first-class tickets to Zurich, Switzerland, booked for a chartered flight departing from Van Nuys Airport at 6:00 AM tomorrow morning, with three private vaults reserved at Credit Suisse.
“Victoria knew the divorce decree was imminent,” Julian Hayes explained. “Under the prenuptial agreement, infidelity or domestic abuse resulted in a complete 100% forfeiture of all spousal maintenance and alimony. She planned to drain twenty-five million dollars, take Julian Cole, and flee the country before dawn.”
Edward stared at the bank logs, a cold, predatory smile spreading across his weathered, handsome features.
“She thought she could terrorize my child, rob my family, and catch a flight to Zurich?” Edward murmured.
He turned to Arthur Henderson.
“Arthur.”

“Yes, Boss?”
“Notify the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Financial Crimes Task Force and the Port Authority at Van Nuys. We’re going to the runway.”
