Chapter 10 - Sunlight Over the Beverly Hills Terrace

Two years after that dark night in the grand foyer, the golden summer sun bathed the sprawling limestone terrace and blooming rose gardens of the Montgomery Estate in Beverly Hills.
The warm California breeze carried the sweet scent of blooming white jasmine, fresh citrus blossoms, and the joyful, unrestrained laughter of a child.
Running freely across the lush emerald lawn was seven-year-old Lily.
She was radiant with health, energy, and boundless confidence, dressed in a cheerful yellow sundress and white sneakers, holding a ribbon wand as she playfully chased Ash—the gray cat, now sleek, healthy, and wearing a diamond-studded collar—across the grass beneath the clear blue sky.
Under the shaded marble pergola, a grand banquet table was laid with fresh fruit tarts, artisan pastries, and sparkling peach cider, celebrating Lily’s graduation from the first grade with highest honors and the opening of the Lily & Ash Montgomery Foundation for Child Safety & Animal Welfare.
Endowed with $50 million from the recovered corporate assets, the foundation had already provided emergency legal defense, trauma therapy, and safe foster housing for over three thousand vulnerable children and rescue animals across the state.
Footsteps clicked softly against the flagstones.
Edward walked out onto the terrace, dressed in a relaxed white linen shirt and dark trousers, holding two glasses of fresh homemade lemonade.
He sat on the wide stone steps, watching his daughter laugh and play in the warm afternoon sunshine.
Lily came sprinting up the terrace steps on her fast little feet, jumping straight into her father’s lap with a burst of pure, ringing giggles, while Ash leaped up to curl comfortably between them.
“Daddy! Look! Ash and I found three golden butterflies by the rose bushes!” Lily beamed, holding up a little drawing of her father, herself, and the cat.
Edward laughed—a deep, joyful sound that came from the very bottom of his heart—and wrapped his strong, loving arms around his daughter, pulling her close against his chest.
“It is the most beautiful drawing in the world, Lily-bug,” Edward whispered, kissing her soft cheek.
Lily leaned her head against her father’s steady, powerful heartbeat, looking out over the glittering gardens where the sun danced on the water fountains.
“Daddy?”
“Yes, my brave girl?”
“Our home is happy now, right?” Lily smiled softly, her hazel eyes glowing with pure, unconditional love and serenity.
Edward tightened his embrace, resting his chin gently against her hair beneath the endless golden light.

“Our home will always be happy, sweetheart,” Edward murmured. “Forever and always.”
The screaming nights, the broken glasses, the cruel lies, and the dark shadows of betrayal were gone forever. Standing tall in the warmth of truth, surrounded by honor, prosperity, and unconditional love, they were finally whole—a father and daughter united forever in everlasting light, peace, and triumphant freedom.
