Dominic found Elena in Wisconsin.

“She was alive all this time.”

“Eleven years, Dominic.”

She laughed bitterly.
“Sorry?”
He lowered his head.
She looked at him.
“You struck me in front of your family.”

“You let another woman mock our daughter.”
His face twisted.
“I know.”
“And now you want to stand here and apologize?”
Dominic closed his eyes.
“No.”
Elena stared.
He continued.
“I want to help you protect Isabella.”
She looked at him for a long moment.
Then said:
“You can help.”
His eyes lifted.
“But you don't get to decide what happens next.”
