Chapter 10 - The Golden Horizon (Happy Ending)Six months later, the early summer sun cast a shimmering, golden path across the turquoise waters of Lake Michigan.

The private garden estate of the DeLuca family in Lake Forest was alive with the sweet melodies of a live string quartet, the scent of blooming white peonies, and the joyful laughter of over two hundred true friends, colleagues, and family members.

Wren stood at the front of the garden aisle wearing a darling white lace dress and a crown of fresh jasmine flowers, proudly carrying the rings on a satin pillow. She walked with her head held high, radiating pure, confident joy.

Maren walked down the petal-strewn aisle in a breathtaking, custom ivory gown that flowed like water in the summer breeze. Her face was radiant with happiness, her eyes locked entirely on the man waiting for her beneath the floral arch.

Luca stood tall in a classic midnight-blue tuxedo, watching his bride with tears of awe and gratitude glistening in his eyes. Beside him stood his closest friends, while Carmela sat in the front row, smiling softly through tears of genuine redemption.

As Maren reached the altar, Luca took her hands in his, whispering, “You are my home, Maren.”

“And you are ours,” Maren replied.

When the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Luca pulled Maren into his arms, kissing her amidst a standing ovation of cheers and joyful applause.

Then, Luca knelt down on the grass, opening his arm wide. “Wren, come here, my brave girl!”

Wren ran straight into her parents’ embrace. Luca lifted her high into the warm summer sunshine, holding both his wife and daughter tight against his chest.

The teasing at school, the cold fountain water, and the years of silence were gone forever. Standing together beneath the endless blue horizon, surrounded by honor, prosperity, and unconditional love, they were finally whole—a family that would never be broken again.
