Chapter 9 - The Retribution of Nathan Coleman

================================================================================
Four months after the arrest, Courtroom 4B of the United States District Court in New Haven convened for the formal sentencing of Julian Coleman and Dr. Malcolm Reeves.
The gallery was packed with corporate leaders, medical board directors, and national media who had followed the sensational downfall of one of New England's most powerful dynasties.
Sitting in the front row of the gallery, radiant and composed, was myself, accompanied by Nathan Coleman. Nathan looked completely transformed; the exhaustion and cold isolation of the past were gone, replaced by the calm, majestic aura of a father who had reclaimed his kingdom.
Julian Coleman and Malcolm Reeves sat at the defense table in orange prison jumpsuits, their hands and ankles shackled with heavy steel transport chains. Both men were gaunt, unkempt, and broken, unable to lift their eyes from the floor.
Chief Federal Judge Harrison Miller delivered the court’s judgment with thunderous moral clarity.
"The defendants engaged in a depraved, calculated, and monstrous campaign of chemical terrorism against two defenseless six-year-old children to satisfy their insatiable corporate greed," Judge Miller declared.
The judge brought down his heavy wooden gavel with a resounding crack that echoed like thunder through the marble hall.
"Julian Coleman is hereby sentenced to Life Imprisonment at ADX Florence without the possibility of parole. Malcolm Reeves is stripped of his medical license in perpetuity and sentenced to Forty-Five Years in federal penitentiary."
Judge Miller struck his gavel a second time.
"Furthermore, the court orders the complete forfeiture of all personal assets, trusts, and equity shares belonging to the defendants, transferring fifty million dollars in civil restitution directly to the Jacob & Jonah Coleman Pediatric Health Trust."
A collective, emotional cheer erupted from the public gallery.
Julian collapsed forward, weeping into his chained hands as federal marshals hauled him to his feet and escorted him through the heavy iron holding doors forever.

Nathan took my hand, lacing his fingers through mine, and we walked out of the courthouse steps into the brilliant autumn sunshine.
