Chapter 6 - The Cousin’s Hidden Wire

================================================================================

At 8:00 AM the following morning, the sun rose over Long Island Sound, casting pale gold light across the Coleman estate.

Julian Coleman arrived in his sleek silver Aston Martin for what he believed was an emergency family breakfast. He wore a bespoke Italian linen blazer, carrying a leather portfolio, radiating the smooth, effortless confidence of an executive on the verge of a corporate coup.

He walked into the formal dining room, where a lavish breakfast spread of fresh fruit, croissants, and steaming coffee sat untouched on the thirty-foot table.

Sitting at the head of the table was Nathan, dressed in a sharp charcoal three-piece suit.

Beside Nathan sat myself, dressed in a tailored navy dress, and Dr. Aris Thorne.

"Nathan, good morning!" Julian began with an easy smile, pulling out a chair. "I came as soon as I received your text. The board of directors is panicking about the Q3 logistics reports. How are the boys doing today? Did the new neurologist from Baltimore provide any clarity?"

Nathan did not answer. He slowly sipped his black coffee, setting the porcelain cup on the saucer without making a sound.

"The boys are doing exceptionally well, Julian," Nathan said calmly. "In fact, they ate two bowls of oatmeal this morning and walked down the grand staircase without holding the railing."

Julian’s fork froze halfway to his plate. A momentary, barely perceptible twitch crossed his left eyelid.

"That’s... that’s wonderful news, Nathan," Julian stammered, forcing a wide grin. "A true miracle! Dr. Reeves’s treatments must finally be taking effect!"

"Dr. Reeves is currently sitting in a federal holding cell in New Haven, Julian," I spoke up, sliding a thick manila folder across the table.

Julian snapped his head toward me, his brow furrowing with sudden irritation. "Excuse me? Who are you? Nathan, why is domestic staff speaking at our executive table?"

"Open the folder, Julian," Nathan commanded softly.

Julian opened the folder with trembling fingers.

Inside lay the certified wire transfer records from Vanguard Maritime Assets, the Rotterdam chemical invoices, and Malcolm Reeves’s signed, thirty-page federal confession naming Julian as the sole mastermind behind the systematic poisoning of the Coleman heirs.
