Chapter 8 - The Interrogation in the Iron Cellar

================================================================================
With the conspirators in federal custody, Dr. Aris Thorne implemented an intensive, military-grade chelation therapy protocol for Jacob and Jonah.
Over the next six weeks, I stayed by the twins' side day and night. We set up an organic healing sanctuary in the sun-drenched East Wing conservatory, filled with fresh mountain air, hydroponic greenery, and specialized physical therapy equipment.
Under our careful supervision, the toxins were safely flushed from their small systems.
The results were nothing short of miraculous.
By week three, the tremors in Jacob’s hands had completely vanished. By week five, Jonah was running through the rose gardens, laughing as he kicked a soccer ball past the security guards. Their rosy cheeks returned, their appetites surged, and the dark shadow of illness that had haunted the estate for six months evaporated like morning mist.
Nathan spent every afternoon with his boys, setting aside his corporate empire to build model airplanes, read storybooks, and teach them how to ride their bicycles on the private driveway.
One evening, after tucking the twins into bed, Nathan found me in the conservatory, organizing the children's lesson plans.
He stood in the doorway holding two cups of hot chamomile tea.
"You're working late, Emily," Nathan said softly, walking over and handing me a cup.
"I was preparing Jacob and Jonah’s reading curriculum for next week," I smiled, taking the tea. "They're advancing so quickly now that their focus has returned."
Nathan sat in the wicker armchair across from me, studying my face with an intensity that made my heart flutter.
"Three million dollars brought the world's most famous doctors to my door," Nathan murmured, his eyes shining with profound emotion. "And every single one of them was blind to the truth because they were looking at charts instead of my children."
He reached across the small table, gently placing his warm, strong hand over mine.
"You looked at my sons with love, Emily. You gave them their lives back. And you gave me my reason to live."
I looked into his clear hazel eyes, feeling the heavy walls of professional distance melt away into an overwhelming, beautiful warmth.
"They are wonderful boys, Nathan," I whispered. "They deserve the world."
May you like
"And you deserve a home," Nathan replied softly. "With us."
