The investigation began quietly.
Alexander hired independent counsel to review the returned package.
The courier records confirmed Teresa Moretti had authorized the refusal.
But that wasn't the only discovery.
Vanessa had been communicating with Teresa for years.
Long before Alexander admitted his affair.
Their messages revealed a plan to push me out of the marriage.
Teresa believed Alexander needed a wife from a powerful family.
Vanessa's father owned several companies connected to the Moretti business network.
A marriage between Alexander and Vanessa would strengthen those relationships.
I had never been part of that plan.

Then called his mother.
“Did you know Claire had children?”
Teresa hesitated.
“Alexander—”
“Did you know?”
She swallowed.
