Chapter 7 - THE MAN BEHIND VICTORIA'S SMILE
The police began investigating Sophie's disappearance immediately.
Alexander provided the threatening messages.
Daniel preserved relevant security footage.
Emily gave a statement.
For hours, she sat in the library, staring at her phone.
Alexander remained nearby.
He didn't make promises he couldn't keep.
He simply made sure she wasn't alone.
At two in the morning, Daniel entered.
“Sir.”
Alexander looked up.
“What?”
“We found something.”
Daniel placed a photograph on the table.
It showed Sophie entering a parking garage beside a man in a gray suit.
Emily stared.
“I don't know him.”
Alexander did.
His expression hardened.
“That's Richard Voss.”
Daniel nodded.
“Charles Sterling's attorney.”
Emily looked between them.
“What does that mean?”
Alexander took a breath.
“It means your sister may have been contacted by someone connected to Victoria's family.”
Emily's hands began shaking.
“Why?”
Alexander looked at the photograph.
Then at Emily.
“I think your mother discovered something before she died.”
