Chapter 6 - THE MAN WHO KNEW HER PASSWORD
Khloe returned home to find her apartment door unlocked.
She stopped in the hallway.
She had locked it that morning.
Inside, her furniture was untouched.
Nothing appeared stolen.
But her laptop was open.
A message filled the screen.
YOU ALWAYS WERE TOO CURIOUS.
Jared.
Khloe backed away and called the police.
Investigators found signs that someone had accessed her computer using a password she had once shared with Jared.
He had copied personal files.
Photographs.
Bank records.
Employment documents.
He had also accessed a folder containing notes about the suspicious transfers.
Khloe felt violated.
Again.
Evelyn helped her arrange temporary housing and strengthen her digital security.
Dante offered a private apartment owned by one of his legitimate companies.
Khloe refused.
“I don't want to trade one man controlling my life for another.”
Dante accepted that.
Instead, she stayed with her friend Maya, a schoolteacher who lived outside downtown Seattle.
Maya welcomed her without questions.
That night, Khloe cried for the first time since the restaurant.
Not because she was weak.
Because she was exhausted.
Maya sat beside her.
“You don't have to solve everything tonight.”
Khloe stared at the floor.
“I just want my life back.”
