Khloe testified before a federal grand jury.
She explained how she discovered the suspicious transactions.
She described the patterns connecting Northstar, Meridian, and the staged insurance claims.
Her testimony helped prosecutors establish the financial structure of Adrian's operation.
But she also faced difficult questions.
Why had she copied certain records?
Had she accessed information outside her responsibilities?
Had Dante influenced her investigation?
Khloe answered carefully.
She did not exaggerate.
She did not conceal mistakes.
She told the truth.
Afterward, she stepped outside the courthouse and found Dante waiting across the street.
He did not approach immediately.
She walked toward him.
“How did it go?” he asked.
“I think I told them what they needed.”
“Good.”
She looked exhausted.
Dante hesitated.
“Would you like company?”
Khloe considered.
“Yes.”
They walked along the waterfront.
No bodyguards beside them.
No secret meetings.
No plans.
Just two people trying to understand what came next.
For the first time, Khloe noticed how tired Dante looked.
“You're losing a lot, aren't you?”
He nodded.
“Money. Contracts. People I thought were friends.”
“Do you regret helping?”
Dante looked toward the water.
“No.”
Then he added:
“I regret needing this much damage before I started asking the right questions.”
