Chapter 7 - VANESSA OFFERED ETHAN A DEAL

The offer came through attorneys.

Vanessa would agree to a generous shared-custody arrangement if Ethan stopped pursuing claims related to Ava’s money and agreed not to introduce certain home recordings in family court except the slap footage.

Rachel stared at the proposal.

Then at Ethan.

“No.”

“I assumed.”

“No.”

Not because he wanted to punish Vanessa.

Because custody could not become payment for silence about money taken from a child.

The judge agreed that the financial and parenting issues needed to be examined independently.

Temporary arrangements remained structured.

Vanessa had supervised contact at first.

Later, therapy-supported parenting time.

No overnight visits until further review.

Diane had no unsupervised contact.

Meanwhile, the financial case moved separately.

Vanessa eventually admitted authorizing withdrawals from Ava’s custodial account for purposes beyond what the account permitted.

Diane agreed to repayment obligations.

Some assets were sold.

The Mercedes disappeared.

Diane downsized.

Over time, a substantial portion of Ava’s funds was restored through settlements, asset liquidation, and structured repayment.

Not overnight.

Not perfectly.

But enough that Ava’s future was not simply written off as collateral damage.

Vanessa also faced consequences for the physical abuse and related conduct based on the evidence and applicable process.

Again—

not some absurd life sentence.

Real accountability.

Real restrictions.

May you like

Real treatment requirements.
