Vendor invoices had been altered.
And a shell company connected to Ethan Parker had received large payments.
The investigation expanded.
Claire also discovered that Madison, Ethan's new girlfriend, worked for one of the consulting firms involved in the transactions.
She stared at the documents.
For months, Ethan had told her she wasn't smart enough to understand his work.
Now she was helping uncover the scheme he'd tried to hide.
Claire looked at Vincent.
“He underestimated me.”
Vincent smiled faintly.
“Yes.”
She shook her head.
“No.”
He frowned.
“What?”
“He didn't underestimate me.”
She looked down at the records.
“He spent two years making sure I underestimated myself.”
