Chapter 8 - The Boardroom and the Inheritance Restored

While Leo was in surgery, Department 14 of the Travis County Probate Court convened an extraordinary emergency session at 9:00 AM.

Chief Judge Eleanor Sterling reviewed the unsealed homicide indictments, the forensic handwriting analysis of the forged will, and the child abuse photographic evidence.

Judge Sterling struck her heavy wooden gavel with a resounding crack that echoed through the stone chamber.

“The fraudulent will dated September 14 is declared null, void, and criminally fraudulent ab initio,” Judge Sterling announced. “Rebecca Vance-Moretti is hereby stripped of all parental, conservatorship, and testamentary rights under the Texas Slayer Statute.”

Judge Sterling signed the master decree.

“Sole, exclusive, permanent legal and physical custody of Leo Ethan Moretti and Maya Clara Moretti is awarded to their paternal uncle, Thomas Moretti. All commercial holdings, real estate, and financial trusts belonging to the late Ethan Moretti—totaling $12,450,000—are fully restored into the Leo & Maya Moretti Irrevocable Heritage Trust, with Thomas Moretti appointed as sole unchallengeable trustee.”

Julian Vance handed me the certified gold-sealed decree.

I walked out of the courthouse into the bright morning sun, holding the paper that sealed my brother’s legacy in rightful, untouchable hands.
