Chapter 5 - The Raid on the Underground Casino

The Riverfront Club was an exclusive, invitation-only subterranean gambling den operating beneath a luxury steakhouse along the Colorado River in downtown Austin.
Inside the VIP baccarat lounge at 2:45 AM, crystal chandeliers reflected off velvet tables, champagne flowed, and thirty wealthy gamblers placed five-figure bets.
At the center high-roller table sat thirty-two-year-old Rebecca, dressed in an emerald-green designer evening gown, dripping in diamond necklaces purchased with Ethan’s money. Beside her sat Gregory Cole, wearing a tailored tuxedo, laughing as he stacked fifty-thousand-dollar ceramic chips.
“To freedom, darling,” Rebecca toasted with a flute of Dom Pérignon. “By next week, the estate probate is permanently closed, and we’ll be drinking margaritas on our private yacht in Cabo.”
“And the little brats?” Gregory chuckled darkly.
“They won't last another week in the cellar,” Rebecca sneered softly. “The cold will take care of them, and we’ll cry at another funeral.”
BOOM.
The heavy reinforced steel doors of the VIP lounge were blown off their hinges by a concussive hydraulic breach.
The sound of shattering wood and screaming gamblers filled the room.
Before the private casino security guards could reach for their holsters, twenty elite tactical operators dressed in black Kevlar, carrying suppressed MP5s, flooded the room with blinding white weapon-mounted floodlights.
Every single guard was disarmed and thrown face-down onto the plush carpet in less than fifteen seconds.
The room plunged into a suffocating, horrified silence.
I walked through the smoke, dressed in a long charcoal cashmere coat, my footsteps echoing with heavy, deliberate authority against the parquet floor.
Rebecca’s champagne glass slipped from her manicured fingers, shattering across the green felt table.

The color drained from her face until she looked like unpainted plaster.
“T... Thomas...?” Rebecca stammered, her voice cracking in pure, unadulterated terror. “What... what are you doing here?!”
