Chapter 8 - The Confession Under Tactical Lights

================================================================================

By 1:30 AM, the Vance mansion had been transformed into a mobile federal processing center.

Federal agents were carrying boxes of encrypted hard drives, corporate banking ledgers, and illegal offshore promissory notes out of Arthur’s basement office.

In the formal dining room, Arthur, Brian, and Scott were seated in steel folding chairs, their wrists and ankles bound in heavy transport chains under the watchful guard of armed federal marshals.

Prosecutor Evelyn Wright sat opposite them, laying out the undeniable forensic evidence on the table:

The DNA and Blood Match: High-resolution scans showing Jake’s blood on the concrete driveway matching the micro-splatter on Arthur’s broken gold signet ring and Brian’s work boots.

The Intercepted Audio: The audio files captured by my directional microphone proving that Arthur, Brian, and Scott explicitly planned to fabricate an accidental fall to seize the twelve-million-dollar trust.

The Macau Money Trail: Direct wire logs showing that Arthur had promised Jake’s Manhattan commercial land deeds as collateral to an illegal sports-betting cartel in exchange for a five-million-dollar debt forgiveness.

"You have zero defense, gentlemen," Prosecutor Wright stated coldly. "Under federal conspiracy statutes, each of you is facing a minimum mandatory sentence of thirty-five years to life at ADX Florence."

Brian broke down first. He began hyperventilating, tears and mucus dripping onto his chained hands.

"It was Dad!" Brian sobbed, pointing his trembling finger at Arthur. "Dad told us if we didn't hold Jake down, we'd all go to prison for the company debts! He said Jake was just a kid and wouldn't remember the details! I didn't want to hurt him! Scott and I were just following orders!"

"You sniveling coward!" Arthur shrieked, rattling his chains as he tried to lunge at his own son. "I built you! I gave you everything!"

Scott joined in, screaming accusations at his father, exposing twenty years of concealed tax fraud, municipal bribery, and blackmail schemes in a frantic, pathetic attempt to save his own skin.

Christine sat in the corner of the room, watched by two female FBI agents, weeping uncontrollably as she watched her father and brothers devour each other in the cold light of justice.

I walked to the front door, looking back at the wreckage of the Vance family.

There was no triumph in my heart, only the clean, unyielding resolve of a father who had protected his bloodline.

"Process them all," I told Marcus. "I'm going back to my son."
