Damen spent the next two years dismantling the criminal side of his empire.
It wasn't easy.
There were legal consequences.
Financial losses.
Threats.
And difficult decisions.
He cooperated with authorities.

Serena supported his efforts.
But she refused to let him confuse love with forgiveness.
One evening, after Matteo fell asleep, she sat beside Damen on the porch of their new home.
It was smaller than the Moretti estate.
Quieter.
Safer.
Damen looked at her.
"Do you regret coming back?"
She thought carefully.
"No."
He smiled faintly.
"Even after everything?"
She looked toward the nursery window.
"Especially because of everything."
He took her hand.
"I don't deserve you."
She shook her head.
"That's not what I want to hear."
He looked at her.
"What do you want?"
She smiled.
"That you'll keep choosing us."
