Chapter 9 - The Federal Gavel of Retribution

Six months later, Courtroom 5B of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio was packed to maximum capacity for the sentencing of Brock Radford.

Sitting in the front row of the gallery were Clara Jenkins, Julian Montgomery, and myself, sitting beside Natasha. Natasha wore an elegant cream maternity dress, her face radiant, healthy, and beautiful, resting a protective hand over her seven-month baby bump.

Brock Radford sat at the defense table in a bright orange federal prison jumpsuit, his wrists and ankles secured in heavy iron chains. His hair was shaved, his expensive arrogance completely extinguished by months in solitary detention.

Chief Judge Evelyn Sterling looked down from the bench with severe, uncompromising moral authority.

“Brock Radford,” Judge Sterling declared, her voice echoing through the stone chamber. “Your calculated, depraved, and monstrous campaign to imprison, starve, and plot the murder of your pregnant wife represents the darkest failure of human decency.”

Judge Sterling brought her heavy wooden gavel down with a resounding crack that resonated like thunder.

“Brock Radford is hereby sentenced to twenty years at the United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute, without the possibility of early parole, followed by mandatory financial restitution of $400,000 to the affected financial institutions.”

Brock collapsed forward onto the defense table, letting out a broken, ragged sob as federal marshals hauled him through the iron holding door forever.

As he was led past the gallery, he looked up at Natasha with desperate, pleading eyes.

Natasha did not flinch. She met his gaze with calm, pristine dignity—the look of a mother who had walked through the valley of shadow and emerged victorious.

Justice was complete, absolute, and unshakeable.
