Chapter 5 - The Cousin’s Arrogant Visit

================================================================================

At 10:30 AM the following morning, Julian Vance walked into the executive offices of First Atlantic Bank in downtown Miami.

At thirty-one, Julian was a man who radiated manufactured wealth—tailored linen suit, bespoke leather loafers, an expensive gold chronograph on his wrist, and an arrogant grin that suggested he owned every room he entered.

He carried a leather folder containing the wire transfer authorizations for the Spanish villa.

He strode into the private banking suite, tossing his car keys onto the mahogany desk. “Morning, Arthur. I need the $400,000 wire to Costa del Sol executed immediately. My flight leaves tonight.”

The branch vice president, Arthur Sterling, looked up with an expression of grave, uncharacteristic anxiety.

“I’m afraid that won't be possible, Mr. Vance,” Sterling said in a low voice.

Julian frowned, his smile vanishing. “Excuse me? What do you mean? The funds cleared escrow on Tuesday.”

“At 8:30 AM today, this institution was served with an Emergency Federal Injunction issued by the Southern District Court,” Sterling explained, sliding a court order with a bright red seal across the desk. “All personal, corporate, and escrow accounts registered to your Social Security number and Vanguard Nevis LLC have been frozen under suspicion of grand fiduciary larceny.”

Julian’s face flushed red with furious panic. “This is absurd! Who filed this petition?!”

“I did.”

A calm, deep baritone echoed from the private suite doorway.

Julian turned around.

Standing in the entrance was Caleb Hart, dressed in a sharp charcoal three-piece suit, his posture radiating absolute, undisputed authority. Flanking him were Marcus Cole and two armed federal marshals.

Julian blinked, sneering with nervous arrogance. “Who the hell are you? A rival broker? This is a private family estate matter!”

May you like

“My name is Caleb Hart,” Caleb replied, walking into the room with slow, measured steps. “And you stole two million dollars from the three orphaned babies sleeping in my home.”
