Chapter 12 - THE WOMAN WHO WOULDN'T SIGN
Daniel requested a private meeting.
Emily advised against it.
I agreed to meet only with attorneys present.
He arrived looking exhausted.
For the first time, his confidence seemed gone.
“Sarah.”
I nodded.
“Daniel.”
He sat across from me.
“I want to settle.”
Emily opened her folder.
Daniel looked at me.
“I'll give you the house.”
I remained silent.
“And your car.”
Still silent.
“And a payment.”
I looked at him.
“What about my share of the company?”
His expression tightened.
“Sarah.”
I waited.
He sighed.
“You don't understand what you're asking.”
I smiled sadly.
“There it is again.”
He frowned.
“What?”
“The part where you assume I don't understand.”
Silence.
I leaned forward.
“I'm not signing anything until the full financial accounting is complete.”
