Chapter 14 - THE RESTAURANT CALLED HOME

Three years later, Norah Bennett opened a small restaurant in Brooklyn.
She called it:
THE WARM BOWL
The menu was simple.
Chicken and rice soup.
Vegetable stew.
Fresh bread.
Roasted seasonal vegetables.
Comfort food made with care.
The restaurant also partnered with local organizations to provide meals for people facing food insecurity.
Norah hired workers who needed a second chance.
She paid fair wages.
Offered training.
And made sure nobody working in her kitchen went hungry.
Caleb helped with deliveries.
He had completed treatment for his gambling addiction and was rebuilding his life.
Their relationship had changed.
Trust returned slowly.
But it returned.
Vincent attended the restaurant's opening.
He had spent years separating himself from criminal operations and addressing the legal consequences of his past.
He was no longer the feared boss who ruled through violence.
He had begun building a quieter life.
When he entered, Norah smiled.
“Table for one?”
Vincent looked at her.
“Actually, I was hoping for two.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Two?”
He smiled.
“If the chef isn't too busy.”
May you like
Norah laughed.
Then took his hand.
