Chapter 5 - THE WOMAN WHO WORE MY RING

Brynn appeared at my office two months later.
She wore a pale blue dress.
No wedding ring.
“Mallory.”
I looked up.
“Brynn.”
She stood awkwardly.
“I wanted to apologize.”
I leaned back.
“For which part?”
Her cheeks flushed.
“The yacht.”
I nodded.
“Specific.”
She swallowed.
“I shouldn't have worn white.”
I stared.
“And?”
She looked down.
“I shouldn't have tried on your ring.”
I waited.
Brynn finally whispered:
“Collin gave it to me.”
My stomach tightened.
“What?”
She looked up.
“He told me it was a gift.”
I stared.
“He said the wedding was only for business.”
My chest went cold.
Brynn continued.
“He said he'd never really loved you.”
For a moment, I couldn't speak.
Then I smiled sadly.
“Thank you for telling me.”
Brynn began crying.
“I didn't know he was lying to both of us.”
I looked at her.
For the first time, I saw something I hadn't expected.

Not an enemy.
A woman who had also believed Collin Prescott.
