Chapter 9 - THE MAFIA BOSS WHO FACED CONSEQUENCES

Enzo Moretti's reputation began to collapse.
The incident at the Sapphire Lounge had been witnessed by dozens of people.
Several had recorded portions of it.
The footage spread.
Reporters asked questions.
Business partners distanced themselves.
And Clara's attorney filed a civil claim arising from the assault.
Enzo could have tried to intimidate witnesses.
He could have used his influence to bury the story.
Instead, he instructed his attorneys not to obstruct the investigation.
He provided relevant records.
Cooperated with lawful requests.
And accepted that his actions had consequences.
His security chief questioned him.
“Boss, you're letting them destroy your reputation.”
Enzo stared at the recovered watch.
“My reputation was built on people being afraid to tell me the truth.”
He looked up.
“Maybe it deserves to change.”
For the first time, Enzo began questioning the empire he'd inherited.
The violence.
The intimidation.
The assumption that money and power placed him above everyone else.
