Chapter 10 - THE DAY MARCO CAME TO NEW YORK

Marco Bellini arrived in Manhattan on a cold Thursday morning.
He wore a tailored gray coat.
His hair was perfectly styled.
His smile was charming.
He looked like a man arriving for a business meeting.
Not someone who had spent four years searching for a woman who fled him.
He requested a meeting with Salvatore.
Salvatore refused.
Then Marco contacted Clara's attorney.
He claimed he wanted reconciliation.
Closure.
A chance to apologize.
Clara declined.
Marco's messages became increasingly aggressive.
He accused her of humiliating him.
Of betraying their families.
Of ruining his future.
The attorney documented everything.
Then Marco made a mistake.
He sent a message threatening to reveal private information unless Clara agreed to meet him.
The message became evidence.
Authorities were notified.
And the investigation expanded.
Clara sat beside her father as her attorney explained the next steps.
Her hands trembled.
Salvatore looked at her.
“You don't have to face him alone.”
She nodded.
“I know.”
May you like
Then she took a breath.
“But I want to be there when the truth is told.”
