She sat in her attorney's office, staring at the documents.

“And they killed him.”

Cora covered her face.
For a long time, she cried.
Not quietly.
Not politely.
She cried for the husband she'd lost.
For the years she'd spent blaming fate.
For the money Thaddius had stolen.
For the fear she'd carried.
And for the life Daniel should have had.
When she finally looked up, her voice was steady.
“I want them held accountable.”
