Chapter 3 - THE BEDROOM WITH TWO DOORS

The villa was enormous.
White stone floors.
Tall windows.
Open terraces.
A swimming pool overlooking the ocean.
Lucia led me upstairs.
“This is your suite.”
I stepped inside.
The bedroom was beautiful.
Cream-colored curtains.
Fresh flowers.
A balcony facing the sea.
And a door beside the fireplace.
I frowned.
“What's through there?”
Lucia smiled.
“Mr. Russo's room.”
My stomach tightened.
I looked at her.
“Separate bedrooms?”
She nodded.
“Of course.”
I stared.
Then laughed softly.
Antonio appeared in the doorway.
“Something funny?”
I turned.
“You gave me my own room.”
He looked confused.
“Did you want something else?”
I shook my head.
“No.”
He smiled faintly.
“Good.”
I looked toward the connecting door.
“Does it lock?”
Antonio nodded.
“From your side.”
My heart softened unexpectedly.
He continued.
“You can use it or leave it closed.”
I stared.
Then whispered:
“Thank you.”
His expression changed.
For a moment, he looked almost sad.
Then he nodded.
“You're welcome.”
That evening, I unpacked.
Inside the wardrobe, I found another surprise.
Not just expensive dresses.
Books.
My favorite novels.
A sketchbook.
Watercolor paints.
And a small wooden box containing seashells.
I opened it.
Inside was a handwritten note.
For the things you stopped making time for. — A

I sat on the edge of the bed.
And stared at the note for a long time.
