Chapter 9 - THE ENEMY INSIDE THE SALVATORE FAMILY
The investigation uncovered a conspiracy.
Victor Hale had been laundering money through shell companies.
Richard helped manage the accounts.
And a senior member of Dante's organization had been involved.
His cousin.
Matteo Salvatore.
Matteo had controlled several financial operations.
He'd also been responsible for security at the warehouse where Sofia died.
Dante stared at the evidence.
His face went pale.
“Matteo.”
Elena nodded.
“We need to verify everything.”
Dante closed his eyes.
For years, he'd blamed rival organizations for Sofia's death.
Now he was learning the threat had come from inside his own family.
Meanwhile, police continued searching for Maya.
A witness reported seeing Richard's car near a private rental property outside Los Angeles.
Investigators moved quickly.
I waited.
Every minute felt endless.
Then my phone rang.
Elena answered.
Her expression changed.
She looked at me.
“Clare.”
I stood.
“What?”
May you like
She smiled through tears.
“They found her.”
