Investigators traced Richard's connections.
They discovered that his company had handled financial transactions for several businesses linked to organized crime.
One of those businesses had belonged to Sofia Salvatore's family.
Dante stared at the records.
His expression changed.
Elena noticed.
“What is it?”
Dante looked toward the window.
“Sofia was investigating missing money before she died.”
Silence.
I stared.
“What?”
He nodded.
“She believed someone inside my organization was stealing from us.”
Elena leaned forward.
“Did she identify anyone?”
Dante hesitated.
“Not before the explosion.”
I looked down at the documents.
Then saw a name.
Victor Hale.
Richard's business partner.
My stomach tightened.
“Dante.”
He looked at me.
“Victor was with Richard at the airport.”
Dante went still.
