Chapter 9 - THE NIGHT THE ALLIANCE BROKE

Richard Vance froze several of Tony's business accounts in February.
The move was intended to force Tony to reconsider his engagement to Lana.
Instead, it triggered a financial review.
Tony's legal team discovered irregular transfers through Vance-controlled institutions.
Millions of dollars had moved between shell companies without proper documentation.
Tony called Richard.
“We need to talk.”
Richard laughed.
“About Lana?”
Tony looked at the reports.
“No.”
A pause.
“About your accounts.”
Richard went silent.
Tony continued.
“You've been moving money through companies I never authorized.”
Richard swallowed.
“Tony.”
“Explain.”
Silence.
Then Richard said quietly:
“Perhaps we should meet privately.”
Tony smiled coldly.
“Perhaps we should involve the auditors.”
Richard's breathing changed.
For years, the Vance family had believed Tony needed them.
Now they discovered something else.
Tony had been preparing to separate his legitimate businesses from their financial network.
