Chapter 4 - THE BROTHER HE BURIED

Marcus Vance had always wanted more.

More money.

More power.

More recognition.

He resented being my younger brother.

Resented the men who answered to me.

Resented the empire our father had left in my hands.

Eleven months earlier, his car had exploded outside a warehouse.

The police identified the remains through records supplied by his associates.

I never questioned it.

I should have.

Now Daniel was reviewing everything.

The funeral.

The identification.

The insurance records.

The financial transfers.

And slowly, a different story emerged.

Marcus had staged his death.

He'd stolen money.

Moved assets.

And disappeared.

Then he'd returned under a new identity.

But why?

Daniel entered my office late one evening.

“Boss.”

I looked up.

“What?”

He placed a folder on my desk.

“Marcus wasn't hiding from you.”

I frowned.

“Then who?”

Daniel hesitated.

“Someone inside our organization.”

My expression darkened.

“Who?”

He looked at me.

“Your father's former partner.”

I went still.

“Victor Kane?”

May you like

Daniel nodded.

“Yes.”
