Chapter 10 - THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TWINS
The rescue operation took place at an abandoned industrial facility near the river.
Federal agents surrounded the building.
Police blocked the roads.
Daniel coordinated with investigators.
I waited in a vehicle nearby.
Lena sat beside me.
Her hands were trembling.
I wanted to tell her everything would be fine.
But I couldn't promise what I didn't know.
Then the radio crackled.
“Children located.”
Lena stopped breathing.
A pause.
“Both alive.”
She began crying.
I closed my eyes.
Relief nearly brought me to my knees.
Minutes later, officers carried Rose and Lily outside.
Wrapped in blankets.
Crying.
Alive.
Lena ran toward them.
I followed.
She took Rose.
Then Lily.
Held them both against her chest.
And sobbed.
I stood beside her.
For the first time in fifteen years, I didn't care about my empire.
My reputation.
