Chapter 13 - THE TRUTH THAT CHANGED A FAMILY

The final historical report was released the following winter.

It confirmed that Henry had been separated from Amelia during the war and that Arthur Harcourt had concealed information that could have helped reunite them.

The report also identified other families whose records had been mishandled.

Elliot held a press conference.

He didn't defend his grandfather.

Didn't minimize the harm.

Didn't hide behind legal language.

Instead, he acknowledged the findings.

He announced funding for independent historical research and family reunification efforts.

The Harcourt Foundation would open its archives to qualified researchers.

And the family would support efforts to restore the identities of children whose histories had been altered.

Henry watched from home.

Nora sat beside him.

When Elliot finished speaking, Henry began crying.

Nora took his hand.

“Are you all right?”

He nodded.

“My boy.”

His voice trembled.

“He told the truth.”

Nora smiled.

“Yes.”

Henry looked at her.

“Amelia would have liked him.”

May you like

Nora laughed softly.

“I think she would.”
