Chapter 9 - The Federal Gavel of Justice

Six months later, Courtroom 4B of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York delivered the final judgment.

Sitting in the front row of the gallery were Ethan and me, dressed in elegant formal attire, our hands tightly interlaced.

Adrian Vaughn sat at the defense table in a bright orange federal detention jumpsuit, his hands and feet secured in heavy iron chains. His hair was disheveled, his arrogant charm completely extinguished by months in solitary holding.

Chief Judge Evelyn Sterling took the bench with severe, uncompromising moral authority.

"Adrian Vaughn," Judge Sterling declared, her voice echoing through the stone hall. "You violated the sacred Hippocratic Oath, betrayed the trust of dying children for personal greed, and engaged in a monstrous campaign of domestic terror."

Judge Sterling brought down her heavy wooden gavel with a resounding crack.

"Adrian Vaughn is hereby sentenced to eighteen years at the Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville, without the possibility of early parole, followed by permanent lifetime revocation of all medical credentials."

Adrian slumped forward, sobbing in broken, pathetic gasps as federal marshals hauled him through the iron holding door forever.

Justice was complete, absolute, and unshakeable.
