Chapter 3 - The Thirty-Minute Investigation

Ethan pulled out his private encrypted satellite phone, pressing a single speed-dial button.

"Marcus," Ethan commanded in a voice as cold as liquid nitrogen.

"Yes, Boss?" Marcus Stone, Chief of Private Intelligence and Security for Carter Global, answered immediately.

"Lock down all media feeds in the main ballroom," Ethan instructed. "I need Dr. Julian Hayes, Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Eleanor Sterling, and our forensic financial audit squad in Suite 402 in three minutes."

"Understood, Mr. Carter."

Ethan turned to me, gently leading me to the velvet sofa. "Ava, stay here. You are completely safe now."

Within four minutes, Suite 402 became an operational war room.

Dr. Eleanor Sterling—the state's top forensic physician—arrived with specialized digital dermatological scanners. With immense gentleness, Dr. Sterling documented the contusions across my upper arms, the fractured capillary patterns along my ribs, and the distinct bite mark on my collarbone, establishing exact timestamps matching Adrian’s off-duty hours.

Simultaneously, Marcus Stone cracked the encrypted hospital clinical database on his tactical terminal.

What appeared on the glowing monitors made the entire room freeze in sheer horror.

"Ethan, look at this," Marcus said, pointing to the pediatric surgical logs.

Displayed before them were thirty-two altered surgical records:

The Surgical Mortality Cover-Up: Four pediatric cardiac procedures where Adrian had committed gross surgical negligence due to acute alcohol intoxication, altering the post-operative charts to blame congenital pulmonary failure.

The Clinical Trial Fraud: $4.2 million siphoned from the Carter Pediatric Heart Endowment into Adrian’s private accounts in the Cayman Islands to fund luxury real estate in Aspen.

The Coercion Dossier: Encrypted audio recordings recovered from Adrian's phone, containing threats directed at hospital nurses and junior residents who attempted to report his behavior.

Ethan stared at the screen, his jaw clenching so violently the muscle twitched beneath his skin.

"He didn't just hurt Ava," Ethan said, his voice dropping into a tone of quiet, terrifying finality. "He used my foundation to bury dead children."
