Chapter 8 - The Recovery of the Family Estate

Three days later, Noah and I were officially discharged from St. Jude Memorial Hospital with a clean bill of health.
Accompanied by my private civil attorney, Julian Hayes, I walked into the 30th-floor corporate headquarters of Vance Logistics in downtown Columbus.
The board of directors and executive partners sat in breathless, terrified silence around the mahogany conference table.
I was dressed in a tailored black suit, holding my head high, with Noah holding my hand beside me.
Julian Hayes slammed a certified Chancery Court discovery order onto the center table.
"Gentlemen," Julian announced, his voice booming across the room. "Pursuant to the emergency judicial asset freeze, all corporate equity, commercial property deeds, and operational voting shares formerly held by Daniel Vance are hereby transferred 100% to Hannah Vance under the State Spousal Protections and Slayer Statutes."
The board members looked at me, nodding in immediate, unanimous consent.
"Furthermore," I spoke, my voice steady, clear, and unyielding. "The name 'Vance Logistics' is officially dissolved. This company will be restructured as The Noah Heritage Maritime & Freight Group, with forty percent of all future net profits directed into a private foundation for vulnerable children and domestic violence survivors."
The board rose to their feet in a spontaneous, respectful standing ovation.

I looked out the panoramic glass window overlooking the city skyline, feeling the heavy, suffocating chains of the past nine years break away forever.
I was no longer a victim. I was the sovereign master of my family's future.
