Chapter 7 - The Uncle’s BetrayalWhile Julian sat in his holding cell, Uncle Raymond realized the walls were closing in on him. Terrified of facing accessory charges for the midnight burglary, Raymond took a desperate gamble.

On Tuesday morning, Raymond walked into the US Attorney’s office in Manhattan with his lawyer, demanding an immediate proffer agreement.
He offered to hand over five years of Julian’s text messages, voicemails, and private ledgers in exchange for full personal immunity.
“Julian planned the entire theft,” Raymond insisted, pushing a hard drive across the table to Prosecutor Karen Vance. “He even talked about spiking Arthur’s medication to get him to sign bank deeds! I only went along with it because Julian threatened me!”
Prosecutor Vance looked at Raymond with disgust. “Mr. Raymond Sterling, you are stating on the record that you knew about an active conspiracy to harm Arthur Sterling and siphon company assets, and you concealed it for over eight months?”
Raymond turned pale. “I... I was under extreme duress...”
“Under New York law, concealing a violent felony for personal financial benefit makes you an active accomplice. Your immunity request is denied.”

Two federal marshals stepped forward and cuffed Raymond right in the conference room.
Within hours, news leaked that Julian and Raymond had turned on each other, filing opposing affidavits that laid bare every detail of their financial schemes. There was nothing left for their lawyers to defend.
