Chapter 10 - Sunlight on Claire’s Song

One year after that dark afternoon in the living room, the warm summer sun streamed through the tall panoramic windows of Vance Manor, bathing the grand piano in brilliant, golden light.

The air was sweet with the fragrance of blooming white jasmine, fresh strawberries, and the soothing melodies of music.

The grand piano stood pristine and proud, its black lacquer polished to a mirror shine.

On the music stand rested the restored photo of Claire—framed in heavy, flawless sterling silver, her radiant smile unmarred by broken glass.

Sitting on the wide piano bench in a clean white linen shirt was eight-year-old Ethan.

His fingers danced across the ivory keys with fluid, confident grace, playing the gentle, soaring harmonies of Claire’s lullaby. The music rose through the vaulted ceiling, filling every corner of the house with warmth, peace, and eternal love.

I stood beside the piano, resting one hand gently on Ethan’s shoulder, holding a cup of fresh coffee in the other.

As the final, sparkling chord resonated through the sunlit room, Ethan looked up at me, his eyes glowing with pure, unadulterated joy.

“I got it right, Daddy,” Ethan beamed proudly. “Every single note.”

I sat beside him on the bench, wrapping a strong, loving arm around his shoulders, pulling him tight against my chest.

“You got it perfect, sweetheart,” I whispered, kissing his forehead. “Mommy heard every single note.”

Ethan leaned his head against my shoulder, looking at his mother’s picture in the sunlight.

“She’s happy, Daddy,” Ethan smiled softly. “Our house is happy again.”

The slammed lids, the cruel words, the hidden poisons, and the dark shadows of betrayal were gone forever. Standing tall in the warmth of truth, surrounded by honor, prosperity, and unconditional love, we were finally whole—a father and son united forever, playing the song of their lives in the everlasting light.
