Chapter 8 - The True Owner of the Diamond Ring

Miriam Shaw connected an encrypted titanium drive to the boardroom’s central presentation console.
The colossal eighty-inch panoramic wall monitors illuminated simultaneously:
The Capital Structure: Certified proof that Claire Whitmore held 83.4% of all Class-A super-voting shares, giving her unilateral executive authority over all corporate resolutions.
The Embezzlement Audit: Forensic evidence proving Daniel Whitmore and Vanessa Cole had siphoned $4,200,000 from company research budgets into private accounts over the past fourteen months.
The Lobby Footage: The unedited 4K security footage from Valentine's Day showing Daniel kissing Vanessa beneath the engagement banner while presenting the company-funded Harry Winston diamond.
The boardroom erupted into an uproar of absolute, unadulterated revulsion.
Director Harrison, an old friend of my father, slammed his fist onto the table, glaring at Daniel with furious disgust.
“You ungrateful parasite!” Harrison roared. “Arthur took you out of a mid-level sales desk, gave you his daughter’s hand, and trusted you with our brand, and you rob the company to buy jewelry for your mistress?!”
Vanessa leaped to her feet, her composure completely shattering into ugly, desperate hysteria.
“I was brought in to save this company!” Vanessa screamed, pointing a manicured finger at me. “You can't fire me! I have an ironclad fifty-million-dollar golden parachute severance clause in my executive employment contract!”
I looked down the length of the table, letting a faint, razor-sharp smile touch my lips.
“Your severance clause is contingent upon Section 8-B of the Whitmore Corporate Charter, Miss Cole,” I said softly. “Which explicitly states that any executive officer engaged in felony moral turpitude, embezzlement, or breach of fiduciary duty forfeits all severance, deferred compensation, and stock options with immediate effect.”
I raised a single hand.

“All those in favor of the immediate summary termination of CEO Vanessa Cole and Executive Vice Chairman Daniel Whitmore, signify by voting aye.”
“Aye!” twenty-eight voices roared in unison.
