Chapter 10 - THE NIGHT THE TWINS DISAPPEARED
The twins disappeared for forty-seven minutes.
It happened during a scheduled visit with Colin.
He'd taken them to a shopping center.
Then left them with Paige while he attended a meeting nearby.
Paige became distracted.
The children wandered toward a bookstore.
When she couldn't find them, she panicked.
By the time Colin called me, security staff had already located them.
They were safe.
But frightened.
I drove to the shopping center.
Emily ran into my arms.
Lucas followed.
Colin stood nearby, pale and angry.
“It was a misunderstanding,” he said.
I looked at him.
“You left them with someone who wasn't paying attention.”
He opened his mouth.
I raised a hand.
“Not now.”
I held my children.
Later, my attorney documented the incident and discussed whether the parenting arrangements needed adjustment.
I didn't want to use my children as weapons.
