Chapter 10 - THE MAN WHO WALKED AWAY FROM HIS THRONEDante began dismantling the criminal structures he had inherited.

It cost him money.
Influence.
Allies.
And the reputation that had once protected him.
Some people called him weak.
Others called him foolish.
He didn't care.
He cooperated with legal authorities and placed legitimate business operations under independent oversight.
The process involved difficult disclosures and consequences for his own past decisions.
One evening, he found me in the kitchen.
I was making soup.
He leaned against the doorway.
"That smells familiar."
I smiled.
"Chicken broth."
He looked at the pot.
"The same kind you made for Nicole."
I nodded.
Dante was quiet.
Then said, "You know, that bowl of soup changed everything."
I laughed softly.
"I think Nicole did."
He smiled.
"Maybe."
He stepped closer.
"Elena."
I looked up.
"Yes?"
"I don't know what my life looks like without the organization."
I set down the spoon.
"Then you get to find out."
He smiled sadly.
"Will you be there?"
I looked at him.
Then nodded.
"If we build something honest."
May you like
He took my hand.
"That's what I want."
