Chapter 8 - The Healing of Little Noah

Two days later, Noah was officially discharged from Inova Fairfax Hospital with a clean bill of health.
Emily brought her son to her father’s sprawling, sun-drenched estate in Great Falls, Virginia.
The estate was a paradise of rolling green lawns, private playgrounds, and blooming rose gardens overlooking the Potomac River.
In the center of the lawn, Arthur Sterling had built a custom wooden pirate ship complete with gentle swings and a sandbox for his grandson.
Noah was running across the lush grass in his clean blue sneakers, chasing a golden retriever puppy, his laughter ringing pure, sweet, and untainted under the blue sky.
Emily sat on the wide cedar porch with her father, sipping iced peach tea, watching Noah play.
"How is he sleeping, sweetheart?" Arthur asked gently, placing a warm hand over Emily's shoulder.
"He slept through the whole night without waking up, Dad," Emily smiled, tears of profound relief shining in her hazel eyes. "He asked if Grandpa was going to teach him how to fish this weekend."
Arthur chuckled from the bottom of his soul. "I'll teach him how to sail the whole ocean if he wants."

Julian Hayes walked onto the porch carrying a sealed legal folio.
"Emily," Julian announced with a triumphant smile. "The emergency family court has finalized the unchallengeable, permanent sole legal and physical custody decree for Noah. Ryan Vance's parental rights have been terminated with extreme prejudice."
