Chapter 3 - The Pediatric Trauma Suite

Emily didn't wait for another lie.

She grabbed the phone containing the incriminating video, slipped it into her pocket, and walked out the front door with Noah wrapped securely in her jacket.

She drove straight to the Pediatric Emergency Trauma Pavilion at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Within three minutes of arrival, Dr. Eleanor Vance and a specialized pediatric trauma response team took Noah into Private Suite 1.

The examination revealed:

Ligature abrasions and contusions around his lumbar spine and wrists from the heavy metal links.

Multiple scalp hematomas where Diane had ripped his hair.

Acute dehydration and elevated stress-induced cortisol levels.

While the nurses cleaned Noah's scrapes, administered soothing fluids, and tucked him into a warm hospital bed with a large plush teddy bear, Emily stepped into the private consultation room.

She pulled out her satellite phone and dialed a private emergency number she had not called in six years.

"Arthur Sterling," a deep, commanding voice answered on the second ring.

"Dad," Emily whispered.

There was a heavy pause over the line.

"Emily? Sweetheart, what's wrong?"

"They put a chain around Noah, Dad," Emily choked out, her voice trembling with righteous fury. "They chained him to a floor beside a dog bowl to extort the family trust."

The silence on the other end of the line was heavier than a collapsing building.

"I am boarding the helicopter now," Arthur Sterling replied, his voice vibrating with the terrifying, sovereign power of a multi-billionaire titan. "Do nothing. The Sterling cavalry is coming."
