Chapter 10 - Sunlight Over the Hudson

================================================================================
One year after that dark night in the closet, the golden summer sun rose over the rolling hills of my private estate in Upstate New York.
The estate had been completely transformed. The heavy surveillance barriers and armed guard posts had been replaced by blooming apple orchards, lush sunflower gardens, and open stone terraces overlooking the serene waters of the Hudson River.
The sprawling lawns were alive with the cheerful sound of music, laughter, and clinking crystal glasses.
Over two hundred guests had gathered for the annual Raymond Moretti Foundation Summer Gala—dockworkers, ship captains, community leaders, and lifelong friends.
I stood on the wide cedar porch wearing a comfortable linen suit, holding a glass of vintage Chianti, watching the gentle breeze rustle through the pine trees.
Elena Vance walked out onto the terrace, wearing an elegant white silk sundress, her hazel eyes bright with health, peace, and joy. Under our joint leadership, she had been appointed Chief of Global Risk & Corporate Governance for the entire enterprise.
“The new children’s hospital wing in Queens officially broke ground this morning, Victor,” Elena smiled warmly, leaning against the timber railing beside me. “Raymond’s name is above the front entrance.”
“Thank you, Elena,” I replied, looking into her eyes with deep, profound gratitude. “You didn't just save my life in that closet. You gave my brother his honor back. And you gave me a reason to live in the light.”
Elena smiled softly, resting her hand gently over mine. “You always had the light in you, Victor. You just needed someone to help you clear away the shadows.”
From the garden below, Marcus raised his glass and called out a joyful toast:
“To Victor and Elena—who showed this entire city that loyalty, truth, and genuine family will always stand triumphant!”
Two hundred voices cheered in unison, raising their glasses into the warm summer sky.

I smiled, feeling a deep, unshakeable peace settle into my soul.
The weapons were put away. The traitors were locked in concrete cells forever. And standing tall beneath the boundless blue sky, surrounded by honor, love, and true loyalty, our world was whole—and our future was brighter than anything we had ever dared to dream.
