Chapter 5 - The Eviction in Swimwear

At 3:30 PM, the sound of heavy hydraulic gates opening echoed across the front driveway.

Marcus Stone, Chief of Private Security for Apex Horizon, marched onto the patio flanked by eight broad-shouldered security operators in dark suits.

"Mr. Julian Vance, Miss Selina Vance," Marcus announced in a gravelly, commanding baritone. "Under State Trespass Statutes and emergency civil protective injunctions signed by Chief Judge Eleanor Sterling forty minutes ago, you are ordered to vacate these premises immediately."

Julian scrambled backward on the flagstones. "My clothes! My watches! My luggage!"

"Every watch and designer suit in that master suite was purchased using embezzled trust funds, Mr. Vance," Marcus stated with absolute finality. "They are currently impounded as criminal evidence for the State Attorney's Financial Crimes Division."

Two security guards seized Julian by his arms, hauling him to his feet in his wet swim trunks.

Selina shrieked as female security officers escorted her down the lawn in her soaking cover-up, her designer sandals slipping off her feet.

The sixty party guests backed away along the stone path, recording the humiliation on their smartphones.

Julian was marched down the cobblestone driveway and pushed outside the heavy iron perimeter gates onto the public asphalt road, barefoot and dripping wet, before the entire neighborhood.

CLANG.

The twelve-foot wrought-iron gates slammed shut, padlocked with heavy industrial chains.

The parasites had been cast out into the cold.
