Chapter 11 - THE CHOICE SHE HAD TO MAKE
Narelli knew loving Roman would change everything.
She also knew she couldn't remain his secretary if their relationship became serious.
She wanted independence.
A career.
A life that belonged to her.
So she made a decision.
She resigned.
Roman stared at the letter.
“What's this?”
“My resignation.”
His expression changed.
“Why?”
“Because I don't want to be your employee and your girlfriend.”
He looked at her.
“You don't have to leave.”
“I know.”
“Then why?”
She smiled sadly.
“Because I need to know who I am outside your office.”
Roman was silent.
Then nodded.
“Where will you go?”
“I've been offered a position with a nonprofit organization.”
He looked surprised.
“Doing what?”
“Operations director.”
Roman smiled.
“That's perfect for you.”
Narelli's eyes filled.
“You're not angry?”
“No.”
He took her hand.
“I'm proud of you.”
She began crying.
Roman pulled her close.
“I love you, Narelli.”
She looked up.
“You do?”
“Yes.”
